How Lack of Sleep Affects your Productivity at Work

We live in a culture that expects us to be as efficient and productive as possible. There are many effects of sleep deprivation. Some are more, others less serious and disturbing. However, when you don’t sleep much during a long period of time, those effects collect, thus, making your life insufferable.

Many people are not getting enough sleep because they are working too much. And they are not working efficiently because they are not getting enough sleep. Sounds like a confusing pattern! Yes, it is obvious but this is what most of us are doing in our space.

We usually give up on our sleep first when life gets busy and we overwhelmed with so much workload. Sleep is something we all need. Too many people either don’t get enough sleep or don’t get standard sleep. And if your career depends on focus and productivity, it’s possible your lack of sleep affects your productivity and puts you down professionally.

In the long term, lacks of sleep disorders are associated with many serious illnesses, including:

High blood pressure

Heart attack

Heart failure

Stroke

Obesity

Psychiatric problems, including depression and other mood disorders

Mental impairment

Fetal and childhood growth retardation

Injury from accidents

Disruption of bed partner's sleep quality

Poor quality of life
