WHAT ARE WE AND WHY ARE WE HERE?

We are an award winning, innovative and exciting greeting card & gift retailer — bringing you greeting cards, gifts and laughs!

We enjoy watching people leave our unique retail experience with a smile on their face, having had a good laugh at our extensive humour ranges, as well as enjoying our unique and unusual range of cards for all occasions. We continually strive to evolve what we offer in line with what our customers tell us they want.

Our retail store is based in the world famous Lanes in Brighton. This is a unique shopping area and we think we bring something extra to it - with our mix of contemporary, cutting edge design products, coupled with some risqué humour cards - all standing proud against some fantastic locally created gifts and greeting cards. We think we have something for everyone!

Our store in Brighton is — we hope! — the first of many... Our ambitions stretch nationwide and not only will it not be long before we have stores across the whole of the UK, we already have a fabulous e-commerce store where you can buy everything that you’d find in our stores.

WE CENTRE OUR APPROACH ON SOME KEY USPS:

• We will have lots of unusual and exciting product - we want to ensure you leave our store or website having experienced really different cards & gifts - stuff that brings a smile to your face (and the recipient of course).
• Our humour ranges will be second-to-none - we will always be at the leading edge of great new products, ranges, and suppliers
• Our store layout will be clearly sign posted and navigation on our website will be easy to search and refine, so you can avoid profanity and rudeness if you want to - as well as identify where you should be looking for that special card or gift, quickly and easily.
• Come and use our instore 'Wrap & Write™' area free of charge. We will have sellotape, scissors and pens at your disposal, so you can immediately write out that card or wrap the present you just bought. If you ask us nicely, we’ll even post it for you!
• Our team will be friendly, helpful and seriously happy to help you find the right card or gift — just ask!
• Our stores (physically and online) will look and feel different! We want you to enjoy spending time with us and will do everything to ensure you do (within reason of course!)
• We reward loyalty by giving you back a %age of what you spend with us. Our great Loyalty Programme ensures you get 'payback' for being connected with us!
• We will carry a good amount of locally related and produced products, utilising local product and talent in each store.
• Perhaps most importantly, we will work with smaller, up-and-coming publishers and suppliers, so as to bring you the best products we can find before you've seen them anywhere else.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

Creased Cards is the retail ambition of Paul Jarman (the owner and founder) becoming a reality! For more than a decade, Paul worked within the Financial Services & Insurance industries and - without wanting to generalise too much — he always found it to be a pretty sober place and his natural sunny and smiley disposition has often been dampened by these grey and dark industry surroundings (metaphorically speaking!).

So, what does a happy chap, trapped in a grey old world do? Take his natural passion for great greeting cards and gifts, along with his dream of owning a retail business which puts smiles on peoples' faces - and combine the two, that’s what!

And so — Creased was born.

Our first store opened in Brighton during December 2013, and in August 2017 we moved to a much larger premises in the same street. We now have our sights on having a further 3 stores within the next 3 years — and then growing to 15 by 2025. Big ambitions!

During 2016, Creased was awarded the Reta for Best Independent Greeting Card Shop in the Home Counties. This prestigious award is a demonstration of the impact Creased has had, despite being such a young business.

Along with our full e-commerce experience, we hope to serve as many people across the country as we can, in order that we spread smiles & laughs across the land!
